About Us
Professionals’ Purchasing Group, Inc. (PPG, Inc.) is a provider of group purchasing and practice management support services, as well as insurance related services, through its subsidiary, Professionals’ Insurance Agency, Inc.
PPG provides services to over 2,000 alternate healthcare sites, which equates to approximately 4,500 healthcare providers in the five-state area of Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and Alabama. Membership includes solo practitioners, large specialty and multi-specialty group practices, IPA’s (Independent Practice Associations) and MSO’s (Management Service Organizations).
PPG’s goals for its clients are simple: to reduce the costs associated with operating a medical practice and to enhance the financial performance of its member-clients.
PPG has been in business since 1991. Currently, PPG’s membership represents an aggregate purchasing volume in excess of $45 million dollars through a portfolio of vendors and manufacturers of healthcare and business related products and services. PPG has expanded the scope of products and services offered since its early days and has succeeded in moving up the “supply chain” to gain discounts from manufacturers in addition to distributors of healthcare and business products.
In the case of medical malpractice insurance, PPG negotiates directly with the insurance carrier on behalf of its membership. In 1998 we introduced the PPG Med-Mal Program, designed exclusively for PPG members and underwritten by ProAssurance Group, rated A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best. ProAssurance Group includes ProAssurance Casualty Company and ProAssurance Indemnity Company, Inc.
PPG believes cost containment and cost reduction are a combined partnership effort between the end user, vendor, manufacturer and the GPO (group purchasing organization) – each giving a little bit to reduce the cost of healthcare, a goal which PPG keeps in mind each and every day and with every contract we negotiate.
